HOW I HURT ARES THIS WEEK
2008-07-30 13:45:57
I LOVE Ares. He’s SOOOOOOOOOOOO stupid.

Before starting at Marvel, I hated any myth-based characters. Also, I hated Jell-O with fruit in it. (Still do.)

But I’ve started liking Thor, because Jeff Parker’s take on him is just the best (see his issues of X-MEN: FIRST CLASS and MARVEL ADVENTURES AVENGERS). He treats him like this rock star that everyone loves and wants to be around (also, Parker’s go-to Thor move is to have him show up around Page 17 and solve whatever problem the rest of the heroes were having).
And Hercules by Fred Van Lente and Greg Pak is great, because he’s just a really strong guy that’ll live forever and really likes beer. That’s not hard to relate to.

I’ve never read anything Ares-related except when he’s been in INCREDIBLE HERCULES. But he’s awesome in that: He shows up, he’s a jerk, he does something not nice, then he gets the holy living snot beat out of him. I love it.

And it’s in that spirit that I present a new ongoing segment which I’m calling “HOW I HURT ARES THIS WEEK.” It was called “HOW I KILLED ARES THIS WEEK,” but I figured it’d be more fun to just hurt him each week, rather than have to call witch doctors every seven days to revive him.

This week’s installment is pretty simple. I beat him with a bat and bit his head. Not very creative, but hey…having your head bit hurts.
Nice blog today Nate. Since there appears to be nothing great going on in the sports world today besides something called a Griffey/Sox trade. I decided to read your blog. There was also an article on short college quarterbacks in yahoosports.

Hurting Ares
Ok since it's just the first installment, we'll let you start slow BUT with him mounted on a Frisbee I expect something more interesting next time.
